you to VFGC members who attended the 92nd VFGC Convention in Williamsburg, April 2021. Highlights begin on page 9. To those members who did not come, we missed you.
Thank
r were several new features at the VFGC Convention this year. Monday morning, attendees
uld take a guided tour of three colonial gardens or enjoy a lavender workshop. Lunch followed at
historic Shields Tavern across from the House of Burgesses. Monday evening, internationally
acclaimed floral designer, Francine Thomas, live from New Zealand via Starlink, inspired us with
her floral tributes to several US cities and the moon launch. Genny Chase and David Pippin
recreated some of Francine’s designs on stage for us to see! The grand finale showcased our
colonial flag which remained on stage for the business meeting the next day. Tuesday morning, the
Williamsburg Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution presented the colors in Colonial
dress. General George Washington (portrayed by Andrew Packett) inspired us all. Donna Donnelly,
our NGC President, also inspired us following General Washington. (Both were a hard act to follow.)
The e
co
rtunate to travel around Virginia, many of our members are only familiar with their own
district. For the convention, each District created a display highlighting key features in their District
(see pages 9-10). District Presidents talked about those key features as an invitation to come visit.
Brenda McManaway led a moving memorial service with District Presidents as a tribute to those
members we have lost in the past year, but will always remember. On a happier note, Heidi Sage,
had displays featuring award winning applications and provided a handout listing all award
recipients (see pages 13-18 ).

pproved a new Fundraising project. Like many family budgets, our VFGC
expenses have been increasing while income has decreased. Beacon Designs is known for detailed
muti-dimensional ornaments including the famous White House ornaments. They designed a
